Track Team Beats Barons
“On your mark! Get set! Go!” is what many anxious athletes heard as they began sprinting to the finish line to out run Lahser’s biggest rival—the Andover Barons. The meet was early in the season, but the Knights trained hard. The runners had to mentally and physically prepare for this tough meet. The girls came out with a win, while the boys lost a tough battle.
The boys were missing two key runners, seniors Torian Marshall and BJ Lavallis, which highly affected the outcome of the meet. “We were missing two great runners that really could have impacted the outcome of the meet,” says junior Michael Duric. “It would have helped to have BJ and Torian with us while we were up against our rivals.” “However,” says sophomore Riley Palmer, “Senior Chris Craig ran great, which made up for the loss.” The girls defeated the Barons during the meet last week. Seniors Joylisa Davis and Arnesha Jennings ran exceptionally well along with the four by one team which included sophomore Riley Palmer and senior Diamond Morton. “Even though some of our best distance runners graduated,” exclaims sophomore Alana O’Mara, “the new additions to the team helped us come out ahead.”
The Knights are in store for a great rest of the season. Though we split the Andover meet, the Knights will be sure to defeat the Barons and save the sword when we face them next.
